US Warns Its Citizens: Don’t Travel To These States In Nigeria (Full List)

The government of the United States has warned the public about security issues in other countries in Nigeria.

The US government has warned its people, in the latest travel advisory, that the growing cases of bandit attacks, kidnapping and general insecurity are responsible for the alert in the listed states.

It added that its citizens should also reconsider travelling to Nigeria at this current time due to the global coronavirus pandemic.

The warning is contained in an August 6 travel advisory published on the website of its Department of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs which was obtained by TTNews.

The affected states and the given reasons are: Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa – terrorism

Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Kaduna, Kano, and Yobe – kidnapping

Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross Rivers, Delta, and Rivers states (with the exception of Port Harcourt) – crime, civil unrest, kidnapping, and maritime crime.

The U.S. government warned that it has limited ability to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens in many areas of Nigeria due to security conditions.

The statement reads: “Reconsider travel to Nigeria due to COVID-19. Reconsider travel to Nigeria due to crime, terrorism, civil unrest, kidnapping, and maritime crime. Some areas have increased risk.

“Do Not Travel to: Borno and Yobe States and Northern Adamawa State due to terrorism. Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Kaduna, Kano, and Yobe states due to kidnapping.”

“Coastal areas of Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross Rivers, Delta, and Rivers states (with the exception of Port Harcourt) due to crime, civil unrest, kidnapping, and maritime crime.”

“Exercise extreme caution throughout the country due to the threat of indiscriminate violence.”

It will be recalled the United States government recently raised an alarm in which it warned the Nigerian government that the Al-Qaeda terrorist group might be planning an invasion of some regions in the country.
