On Monday, the Yoruba socio-cultural party, Afenifere, announced that four suspects had been arrested by Ondo state anti-robbery squad (SARS) over the killing of Mrs. Funke Olakunrin, daughter of its chief, Pa R F Fasoranti.
A spokesman for Afenifere, Yinka Odumakin, who made the disclosure in a tweet, said the suspects ‘arrest came nine months after Mrs. Olakunrin’s brutal murder.
He said three of the four suspects detained so far were from the northern part of the country who made valuable confessions to the police. Afenifere further said in the statement: “We applaud the committed officers who made the arrest even as we await a thorough investigation. We decided to help the police to better do their job.
“We appreciate all Nigerians who have encouraged our 94-year-old leader in this troubling season. It is our prayer that criminals will not go unpunished again in our country.”
