Niger Minister of Employment and Labour, Mohamed Ben Omar
The Niger state Minister of Employment and Labour, Mohamed Ben Omar Gave up the Ghost. He died on Sunday at the main hospital of the capital Niamey, Guardian reporters.
“The party he belongs to, Social Democratic Party confirmed his death but they failed to announce the cause of his death .
However, Niger has confirmed 736 cases of COVID-19 with 35 deaths.
Reacting, President Mahamadou Issoufou described Omar’s death as shocking.
He said he received the news with a “heavy heart”.
Omar headed the PSD, which is affiliated with Issoufou’s Democracy and Socialism Party and was Issoufou’s labor minister from 2017 onward.
Omar started his political life in 1999, serving in parliament under President Mamadou Tandja.
