Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Amaju Pinnick has declined to rule out returning Odion Ighalo to the national team.
Pinnick, however, insisted the 30-year-old would not have to reverse his decision to leave the Super Eagles.
Ighalo declared his international retirement last year, having finished at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations as the top scorer.
But his impressive performances have led to calls for Ighalo to play for Nigeria again after he made a loan move to Manchester United in January.
“He grew up in Ajegunle, you know the Ajegunle and Nigeria mindset, he loves the country so much, so I believe he will come if he wants to play for Nigeria.
“We chat every other week, I’m in touch with him. He is quite polite, very disciplined and very prayerful, “said Pinnick on Africa’s Plus TV.
He added: “If he wants to come, I think he’s certainly going to come, but we don’t want to put him under pressure, we want him to focus.”
