West Ham’s new signing, Kurt Zouma has expressed an emotional farewell to Chelsea fans on social media after his transfer was confirmed on Saturday night.
Zouma signed for West Ham on a four-year contract following protracted negotiations between the two clubs and the intermediaries involved in the deal.
“My conversation with the manager went very fast. I just felt like he really wanted me to come and join the team, especially a good team that’s started the season very, very well.
“With the great season that West Ham had last year, that gave the team a lot of confidence to improve this year – and I want to help the team do that.”
It has been reported that a fee of around £29.8million will be paid to Chelsea, who have now raised around £123million in player sales during the current transfer window.
Zouma’s move to West Ham will now prompt the Blues to try and prise away of the best defenders from La Liga before August 31, with Kounde himself making the decision to try and force through the move.
The 22-year-old missed Sevilla’s 1-1 draw against Elche, as he waits in Paris for a breakthrough between the two clubs.
Away from the Kounde drama, his French compatriot Zouma posted an emotional farewell message to fans of the west London club after his seven-year stay in SW6 came to an end over the weekend.
His Instagram message read:
“It has been a huge honour to be part of the success of this amazing club! The journey has been full of emotions… I’ll never be thankful enough Chelsea FC see you soon!”
