Akeredolu Sworn In As Ondo Governor

Akeredolu Sworn In As Ondo Governor for a second term in office by the state Chief Judge in Ondo State.

Truetalknews reports that Akeredolu, who took the oath at about 10:30am, was accompanied by his wife, Betty, children, and grandchildren.

Also, his running mate, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, took the oath of office for the first time as the Deputy Governor after he replaced the former deputy governor, Agboola Ajayi.

Aiyedatiwa was also accompanied by his wife and three children.

Dignitaries present at the swearing-in ceremony are Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, and Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State.

Others present at the event are former Ogun governor Ibikunle Amosun, former Senate President Ken Nnamani and former Osun deputy governor, Senator Iyiola Omisore.

The event took place at the International Culture and Event Center, Igbatoro Road, Akure.

Only 500 people were allowed at the ceremony in compliance with COVID-19 protocols.

The oath of office was administered by the Chief Judge of the State, Olarenwaju Akeredolu

Governors present at the occasion were Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State; Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State; Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State and Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State. Former Governor and APC chieftain, Bisi Akande was also at the event.

Mr Akeredolu was re-elected governor of the state on October 10, 2020, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.

He defeated the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Eyitayo Jegede, and the current Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi, who contested on the platform of the Zenith Labour Party.
