Bobi Wine says they’re locked at home with wife and 18-month-old baby

According to a statement dated Monday, January 18, Falani sought an opinion from the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (UN-WGAD), an affiliate of UN, over the continued detention of Wine without being charged, which he said was against the Constitution of the country. “Mr. Wine and his wife are being illegally detained for days without any criminal charges preferred against him.

I am therefore seeking an opinion from the Working Group finding the house arrest and continuing detention of Mr. Wine and his wife to be arbitrary and in violation of Uganda’s Constitution of 1995,” read the statement in part.

Falana further noted that the singer has been denied access to his lawyers in a bid to prevent him from filing a petition challenging Museveni’s win.

The lawyer, therefore, demanded the immediate release of the 38-year-old urging the Working Body to send an allegation letter to the Government of Uganda inquiring the legal basis for his arrest. Uganda elections: US ambassador blocked by soldiers manning Bobi Wine’s home Run out of food
